The amazing winter of '15-'16 continued today with a hammer-fest on the highways. Nelly and I jumped on 95, and then 295, and set a near land-speed record down into the southern stretches of Rhode Island. Once we'd cleared the outstretched arms of Providence proper and nearing the CT line, we peeled off and found ourselves some nice windies, and wended along wooded roadways paralleled by rivers and streams.
I was quite surprised that there weren't more bikes out today. All told, I think we saw 4 other bikes, all solo riders.
We wound up finding our way into the outskirts of Mystic and started looking for a place to fill our bellies. A pizza place looked inviting enough to us so we set the 'stands and patronized the establishment.
After lunch, it was our bikes' turn to get filled up. We discussed winding our way back or taking the highway for a straight-shot home. The highway wound up winning so we found ourselves back in Nelly's driveway in short order.
I didn't stay because I had things here at the house to take care of so it was back to the highway once more. And once more, it was only a short time later that was back into my own driveway.
After putting the bike away, I did some yard cleanup, trimmed some branches...you know; typical springtime things. Except it's not springtime - it's the dead of winter! (The best winter I can ever remember!)
So here's hoping this winter keeps on keepin' on. And it looks like it's going to, at least for the near-term; 50's are forecast through Wednesday, and may stretch into the weekend.
Thank goodness for global warming!
