Anyway - here's a crap load of photos since the last time I posted;
Here's a delectable bourbon whiskey that I found in Dub's over in Mansfield.
The Barenjager name is what caught my eye, as they're the same folks who make the "apple juice" that we used to get all the time. This stuff was quite good; the strongest honey flavor of anything I've tasted, and it smoothed the bourbon right out to a golden mellow deliciousness.
Here's my bike in the Walmart parking lot, just up the road from the Rendezvous motel. It kinda blends in nicely, don'tcha think?
Here's breakfast on the morning of departure. Lynn's toast was a bit off. I think the kitchen staff needs to focus a little more.
The obligatory road pictures as we're making our way from the motel, to the 'Vous!
Our very own Rob Skroback, packed up and riding hard...
Look at that scenery...
Ruh-Roh...road closed, turn around...
But not a big deal. There's always ways around, and the scenery just keeps getting better...
Oh yeah; when I was leaving home and heading out to the motel, I was run off the road by a woman who was in the left lane but decided she wanted to exit, so she cut straight across my lane and off on her exit. I don't even know if she was aware that she'd sent me off the pavement, but whatever. Anyway, I hit a huge bump and it launched my backpack up over my sissy bar. Fortunately the bungies held and they pulled the pack down onto my rear fender so at least everything stayed with me. I was able to re-secure things to the seat and off I went. But what I didn't realize is that when the pack had flipped over and back, it'd caught my radio antenna and folded it down to the ground, which ground it down a bit, leaving me with a nice sharp point. (After almost poking my eye out at the 'Vous, when I was leaning over into the saddlebag, I realized this thing was an injury waiting to happen so I took out my nippers and cut this thing down almost to the fender.)
Suffice to say the 'Vous grounds were pretty waterlogged this year...
This guy had tried to make it back to the road, but no luck. His trailer was up to its axle, and there he stayed for the weekend.
Ok, some of these pics are out of order I guess But here we have the return of the mailbox! This was the first time in (I think) 3 years that it'd made it back out here.
Getting things stocked up and ready...
Yep, that's a BL can, completely below grade. That's how deep these tire trenches were...
Who's this A-hole who keeps making these trenches?
Another example of how soggy things were, and how deep our tires were sinking. Here's my bike; standing on it's own in the mud; no kickstand.
I found Dana an Russel on their memorial pole. It wasn't down with the others, in the open area. There were three poles up by the security office, and this one was one of those three.
I thought this thing was funny. all kinds of little toys all over it, especially on the front...
A nice Panhead chopper...
A gorgeous sunset...
That's it for the 'Vous. Moving on, as many of you heard; Flex crashed on the way home. Here he is in the hospital - as you can see, his body was broken, but his spirit wasn't.
I did find it humorously ironic that the billboard in the background (way in the background, outside the window) was a Harley advertisement that said "Riding Nonstop for 114 Years!" Poor flex...
Jumping ahead once again; Greg and I attended the annual Blackbeard run last Saturday. It was hot and muggy as hell, but this is a very well organized run and things went off without a hitch.
Lookit all them bikes...
We got to start out own line which worked out well because we were right up by the exit. We grabbed our grub and then hit the road home again.
And there you have it; you're all caught up.
Next up is Aaron & Chrissy's wedding in 6 days, and that's going to be an amazing time. The Myszka's are coming into town on Thursday, I believe, and King and Lynner & Tim are arriving on Friday. The wedding is on Saturday and has been billed all along as a two-day event, with folks camping overnight on the grounds. So...yeah, I expect to be fully sleep deprived by the time the sun sets on Sunday.
Here's hoping everyone out there is getting some miles and smiles.
