Two Sleeps!

Potsy has had enough of this "snow-up-to-the-windows" crap. He says it's time to head south!

Another Winter Weather Forecast, Dave??

Yeah, we know. It’s mid-February, middle of the winter, snow, ice, below-zero temps, etc., etc., etc. We get it. It sucks. So why are you bothering us with yet another grumble about how lousy the weather is?

Well…ya see…the thing is that THIS isn’t the weather forecast for up here. I’m gonna show you what the weather forecasts are for where I’ll be in 4 days…because I’m a mean, rotten sonofabitch! LOL

Let’s see…we’ll be touching down in Orlando on early Tuesday evening. What will the weather be like for us? Ok, ok, 70 for a high, but things will probably have cooled off a bit by the time we touch down, so maybe we’re looking at…what do you think would be a fair guess? 65? Oooh, chilly. We’d better bring sweaters.

Let’s move along to Miami, where we’ll end up after our first day of riding… Now this looks inviting! A high of 77 on Wednesday? I bet they don’t have to worry about snow, with temps like that. Thursday and Friday look like they’re getting pretty hot, though. Not sure I’m ready for that kind of heat just yet. We should probably find an area that’s a comfortable in-between. Oh…something like…

Yeah, that’s more like it! We’ll take a couple days to get better acclimated and soak up some rays, enjoy the nice ocean breezes, that kind of thing. But wait, what’s up with the weekend? Why is it only staying @ 74? It’s the weekend, baby! We need things to be a little hotter. Yeah, so we should maybe think about heading up to…

Now we’re talkin’! A weekend of 76 degrees, now THAT’s just what the doc ordered for a trio of frostbitten and winter-sickened bikers. (We may not need those sweaters after all.)

4 sleeps…

It's a Baby...Barrel!

Some of you may remember from last year that, while our trip to Kentucky was grievously interrupted, I had still gone to the Maker’s Mark website, signed up to be an Ambassador, and also requested that my name be added to a barrel. AT the time, they said the backup would result in a delay before my name could be place, but that they would let me know when it had happened. That announcement arrived yesterday!

They put a “new baby” kind of spin on things, which I guess is ok. Apparently this one was a whopper; weighs in at about 50 gallons (must get that from me), and has a “well-rounded, with distinct character” personality. Well, I’m certainly well rounded, and I have been called a character on many occasions…

They even included a Barrel Dedication Certificate!
Check out that wax seal on the bottom – it’s real wax! Man, these guys don’t mess around!

Sweet – now I just gotta make sure I can get down there this summer and get some visitation with my newborn barrel.

‘Course, the gestation period on this stuff is 6-7 years, so it’ll be a while before I can…(wait for it)…

…Take him out for his first drink.

[Insert Witty Title Here]

Ok, so I couldn’t come up with a good title for today’s post, but you have to cut me some slack. Between Saturday night’s roof-shoveling excursion and yesterday’s Super Bowl extravaganza, the body is feeling a bit worn down.

“But why were you shoveling your roof on Saturday night, Dave? Why not do it during the daylight?” Well, that is an excellent question. The reason is that I had to help a friend move during the day, and by the time she was all settled and I got home, it was already getting dark. There was a ton of rain coming my way and I didn’t want my poor roof to suffer through all that extra weight, so I dragged the ladder out and got to it. Man, I couldn’t believe how much snow was up there! It took me a glorious 4 hours to get it all done and by the time I was done, I was ALL done. It was a quick shower and then nighty-night time.

Sunday found me at work – yeah, work! I’ve gotta make sure I stay on top of things so that I don’t have any probs when it comes time to fly away to sunny FLA! Anyway, after about 5 hours, I wrapped things up and headed off to catch up with folks. Catch up with them for what? Why, the Super Bowl, of course! Needless to say; it was a long evening. Our crew wasn’t large in number, but we were a festive bunch. The good news is that it was a Sunday night, which meant we’d be taking things easy on our livers, and on our wallets.

Oops... (I realize that's kinda hard to make out but it says $301.34)

$300 dollars? How the hell did we rack up a $300 tab!?!??

Oh…
Uhm…yeah…so,…hey, did I mention the Packers won! Yay Packers! But that also means football is over for another season. (And who knows what’ll happen to the 2011 season when the current CBA expires.)

Anyway, that’s not for me to focus on. What IS to focus on is getting everything taken care of here so that I’m free and clear to head south in…only 8 more sleeps!

The excitement is starting to build…

GO PACKERS!!!

Ordinarily, I'm an AFC fan. But this year, I want the Cheeseheads to win it. Sure, a small part of me really doesn't want to see Benny Boy win another ring. However, the main reason is so Green Bay can reach out their hands and give Brett "Favrah" a collective middle finger for all the crap he put them through. Dink.

Global Warming??

Another day, another mess. Between yesterday and today, I think we're supposed to have received another 12+ inches. WTF.

Punxsatawny Phil didn't see his shadow this morning which supposedly translates into an early Spring. Let's hope the furry rodent is right (although, looking up his history, he's only been correct 39% of the time. Not good odds.)

Let's see; the biggest storm system in 50 years just washed over the upper 2/3 of the country, dumping snow over more states at one time than anyone can remember. We're currently on pace for the snowiest (Boston) winter on record. I've never had this much snow in my yard at one time. So the question on my mind is where is Global Warming? I think it needs a little help from us...

...I'm gonna go out and start my Jeep and leave it running. Forever.
