The 8th annual Cinco de Roasto event has come and passed. The food is gone, the beers have been emptied, and the folks have left. Judging from all the feedback, this year was another success, though, and that’s what matters. The attendance was down this year (only 70 – 75 folks this year), but that was perfectly fine with me. With how crazy things have been lately, a more-subdued event was just what the doctor ordered.
I’m happy to report that the NY crew had much better weather this year than last – maybe even bringing the good weather with them? It’d been cool, cloudy, and rainy for a couple of days…even right through mid-day on Friday. But when they rolled into town, the skies cleared off and things were good. The weather gods must have been a bit ticked off at this insubordination, as they tried to roll some rain into the picture on Saturday, but thankfully nothing more than a few sprinkles now and then were mustered. Sunday dawned a bit chilly and overcast, but the Oleaners worked their magic again and, from what I could glean from the weather websites, they enjoyed strong sunshine and clear skies for most of their return trip.
I joined them for breakfast before seeing them off on Sunday morning. I tell ya; seeing them gear up and start rolling out really makes me ache for the road...
Anyway! Planning-mode now shifts to the Rendezvous. I’ve gotta get a meeting lined up for the Mass crew so that we’re all on the same page for food and such. Zig will be shooting down to ride the Tail of the Dragon ahead of time, and then coming back up to NY where he will then make the trip to Pattersonville with the Olean folks. The rest of us will try to get our butts in gear and hammer out a plan.
The ‘Vous is coming – and we’re gonna be damn-well ready for it!
